My beloved [livejournal.com profile] emiliglia  has been working away on an AU bigbang in which Jim is a helicopter pilot and Bones is a modern-day trauma surgeon.  It's long, it's angsty, it's gorgeous, it's a reworking of all of their tropes in contemporary times, and Bones is a medical BAMF while Jim is his own brand of kick-ass and they both re-write their stories, both apart and together.

It's called The Greater Good (NC17), and I completely adore it.  I hope you do too.

Title:  Past, Present, Future
Author: blcwriter
Rating/Warnings: PG, family schmoop, implied secondary (canon) character death
Summary:  Comment fic for [livejournal.com profile] jim_and_bones , this Daily Captain and Doctor post, members-locked comm (18+ to join).  David's exploring the family pictures-- Jim tries to explain.

Just because things don't work out in the particular moment, doesn't mean they can't work out in the future... )
Title:  Just a little longer
Author: blcwriter
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 (language), family, handholding, schmoop
Summary:  Comment fic for [livejournal.com profile] jim_and_bones  for this Daily Captain and Doctor (pics members-locked, must be 18+ to join).  Bones is impatient to get to shore leave, and realizes in his impatience what "family" really means and can mean.

Jim's luck that never did quite ever run out, that and his damned stupid grins... )
Comment fic for the second of the two pictures posted at today's SWMOM at [livejournal.com profile] jim_and_bones  (members-locked).  The thing with fandom is, you start out on the high-dudgeon horse of "I'll NEVER WRITE X" and eventually?  Yeah, you totally do.

Mpreg.

He thought Jim was asleep when he first came into the room-- curled up as he sometimes was, fool boy, forgetting the covers despite being buck-naked. )

Title: Manhattan (Weeks Gone By)
Word Count: 7988
Rating: R for adult themes—marriage, sadness, death of secondary characters, life being generally hard with the grief, anger and depression that come along with that and getting older.
Betas: The marvelous [livejournal.com profile] sangueuk and [livejournal.com profile] abigail89 . Thank you, darlings!
Summary: For the [livejournal.com profile] jim_and_bones St. Patrick’s Day challenge, because only I can turn a flash fic prompt into 8000 words. I haven't been able to stop listening to Frightened Rabbit’s “In Living Colour”  from their Winter of Mixed Drinks album as I was trying to figure out what I wanted to say for my next story, and then this challenge came along, and literal writer! is literal, so, there you go.

The prompt was "Manhattan," and the boys wanted to be married in modern times and run a bar in the Village with the whole gang involved.  Non-happy-fun-times ensue before things sort of resolve.  There are some ideas [livejournal.com profile] weepingnaiad  and [livejournal.com profile] sangueuk  will recognize from various discussions we’ve had, as well as [livejournal.com profile] canis_takahari’s fanon Gaila & Jim friendship, including de rigueur pedicures.

Title: This love shit is work
Rating: PG-13 for language, some preparatory m/m sexual imagery
Summary: For this weekend’s [livejournal.com profile] jim_and_bones ’ flash fic “FML” prompt-fest, (comm members only) for the prompt “Today, after work, I came home to my boyfriend sleeping on the couch. Feeling romantic, I started to undo his pants. My reward was him waking up and kneeing me in the eye. FML.” Bones’ voice is a bit more corn-pone/Southern Gothic than I usually write him—IDEFK where this weirdness came from.

The gorgeous, brilliantly talented, velvet-voiced [livejournal.com profile] thalialunacy  has recorded a podfic for The Shapes a Bright Container can Contain, an NC-17 Chris/Karl RPS fic I wrote quite a while ago.

I nearly fell out of my chair when thalia said she'd like to record the story-- and since I knew she'd trained as a singer, of course I said yes.  (Well, that and the fact that she's a genius writer and proofreader and all-around incredible person who loves these characters like nobody's business, so I knew she'd do them justice... but then, I could drool over thalia's stories forever and it wouldn't be enough recommendation.)

But the end result is even better than I could have imagined, and thalia's voice is just gorgeous.  I don't always use a beta (a flaw of mine, I just want to post when I am done with a story) and there are things here that I'd change now that I've heard the story aloud-- which is a good lesson to re-learn-- read your story aloud to make sure that it's done.  But I am so thrilled and flattered and just ... GUH at thalia's reading, and I hope you go flail all over her post to let her know how fantastic her reading is.

Title: Priorities
Pairing:  Kirk/McCoy, established
Rating: PG-13 (boys kissing)
Summary:  Leo's cranky about all the paperwork he left behind to go on shore leave.  Jim cheers him up.  A comment ficlet for the Daily Captain and Doctor pics (members-only) posted by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] lindmere  at [livejournal.com profile] jim_and_bones , because they looked too adorkably wind-tousled not to write something.

Leo's got to chase after the adrenaline junky insane kindergartners (even Spock's not exempt) that masquerade as the alpha shift crew... ).
